Amelia Gulliver

The Australian National University

Whose research influences you?

I take a broad interest in research from a wide range of fields, including sport and exercise psychology, e-mental health services, lived experience research, and health services research, and am always looking for new ways I can solve problems. I am fortunate to work in a small group of outstanding mental health researchers who are increasingly becoming leaders in their fields, and I am continuously learning from them.

Are you a lived-experience researcher?

Yes

If so, how does lived or consumer experience shape your research?

My mentor, A/Prof Michelle Banfield has been a particular inspiration to me in learning how to value my lived experience and incorporate this expertise into my work. My research is shaped in part, by my own lived experience, which fuels my desire to pursue projects that are driven by lived experience perspectives, and because of this critical factor, are more able to make genuine and real-world impact.

We’d love you to share an image that represents your topic or passion in mental health research

My research interests are primarily around mental health promotion, and increasing help-seeking from evidence-based services. This photo is me promoting a digital mental health program for university students.
